DECLO,
|
In the spring of 1918, Bishop Lorenzo E. Olsen, John C. Darrington and Clark Darrington went to look at the high ground on the Will Curtis place and decided it would be a good location for a cemetery. Not long afterwards a public meeting was called to present the proposition to the people. L.A. Gillett made the first payment to Mr. Curtis for the purchase of the ground. For the first few years’ funeral processions would go through the yard and field by the rock house on the hill owned by Olaf Engstrom. Finally, a road way was secured from Anson Parke and Heber Thorne, where it is now, and the entrance has been there ever since. |
